We are working at a local level to ensure our region is water smart and resilient to climate change.
Being water smart is important to achieving a healthy, green, liveable city as it promotes planting more trees and vegetation, increasing biodiversity, becoming more efficient and managing water smarter. Have you spotted the water smart solutions we are installing in our parks, streets and roads to create cooler, greener and more sustainable places for you to live, visit and enjoy? There are ‘thirsty’ raingardens, wetlands, street tree inlets, verge soaker infiltration systems and permeable pavers that you can visit and see working in action (best on a rainy day!). These systems work to direct more water to plants and trees, reduce local flooding and remove pollutants for cleaner water. Some, you can even install in your home, school or workplace!
