Campbelltown City Council’s Cool Spaces for Summer was a program to trial climate safe spaces for community during extreme heatwaves occurring in the Summer of 2023/2024.

The Program won the following three awards in 2024.

Tree Cities of the worlD, 2020-2026

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with the Arbor Day Foundation, has recognised the Cities of Burnside and Unley with Tree Cities of the World designation seven years in a row! The City of Tea Tree Gully has also been recognised since 2024! The international program celebrates cities that meet core standards for the care and planning of urban trees and forests.

To achieve recognition, the councils met the five core standards: establish responsibility, set the rules, know what you have, allocate the resources and celebrate achievements.

WINNER: THE NEWSY AWARD, 2019

Feeling Hot Hot Hot! wins international award for communications from the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance (CNCA). The award recognises exceptional newsworthy media leadership for the event and campaign around summer heatwaves and urban heat. The City of Adelaide has been a member of CNCA since 2016 with a commitment to transitioning to a carbon neutral city.
