Community Resilience Leaders

Do you live in the City of Adelaide and have an interest in helping yourself, your neighbours and community become better prepared for emergencies, and more informed about climate change and the environment?

Community Resilience Leader volunteers will be trained to support community members to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, and take positive steps to adapt to the changing climate.

Specialised training is provided in a 10-week course running between November 2019 and March 2020.

The course will incorporate leadership, community engagement, and specialised knowledge in emergency management, psychological first-aid and climate change adaptation.

Once trained, Community Resilience Leaders will initiate discussions with their community, share information and promote the importance of taking individual action to address the challenges communities increasingly face.

Flexibility within roles will cater for varying abilities and time commitments, so there will be something to suit most people.

This role would suit those with an interest in supporting the community to make stronger connections, to build emergency resilience, become active participants, and increase their own skills and knowledge in a lively program. Ongoing operational support to this role and team of volunteers will be provided by the City of Adelaide's Wellbeing and Resilience team.

This opportunity is open to residents of Adelaide (home postcode 5000) and North Adelaide (home postcode 5006).
