As temperatures continue to rise and electricity bills keep soaring, we understand many people struggle to keep themselves cool at home. Helping our community stay cool during heatwaves is a priority for us.

To help you beat the heat during the summer months, our partner councils operate our Cool Spaces program.

Cool Spaces reduce the risk of heatwaves, especially for those who do not use or have access to air conditioning.

Providing these spaces is just one way our partner councils are supporting communities to stay safe and healthy throughout the summer months.

“A Cool Space is an air-conditioned public space where you can have access to drinking water, toilets, power and other amenities, as well as activities to keep you entertained. Transportation assistance may also be offered.”

Check out your nearest cool space on the map, and keep an eye on council websites and social media to know when a Cool Space is activated during a heatwave.
